This was originally a song, but I edited it into a poem.
Renwen
I've been searching in this forsaken desert
Lookin' for water amongst the sands
I've lost my way
Don't know where to go....
How long must it take?
Am I not alone?
Why am I still searching?
I have been found
Love is waiting for me
I just had to let Him in

The Destruction of Sennacherib
This is a poem that is in my World Literature book. For some reason, it's stuck with me, so here it is.
Renwen
The Destruction of Sennacherib
by George Gordon, Lord Byron
I
The Assyrian came down like the wolf on the fold,
And his cohorts were gleaming in purple and gold;
And the sheen of their spears was like stars on the sea,
When the blue wave rolls nightly on deep Galilee.
II
Like the leaves of the forest when summer is green,
That host with their banners at sunset were seen;
Like the leaves of the forest when autumn hath blown,
That host on the morrow lay withered and strown.
III
For the Angel of Death spread his wings on the blast,
And breathed in the face of the foe as he passed;
And the eyes of the sleepers waxed deadly and chill,
And their hearts but once heaved, and forever grew still!
IV
And there lay the steed with his nostril all wide,
But through it there rolled not the breath of his pride;
And the foam of his gasping lay white on the turf,
And cold as the spray of the rock-beating surf.
V
And there lay the rider distorted and pale,
With the dew on his brow, and the rust on his mail;
And the tents were all silent, the banners alone,
The lances unlifted, the trumpet unblown.
VI
And the widows of Ashur are loud in their wail,
And the idols are broke in the temple of Baal;
And the might of the Gentile, unsmote by the sword,
Hath melted like snow in the glance of the Lord!

A Mother's Greatest Treasure
I really don't think this needs an explanation at all.
Renwen
Diamonds seem to hang from every window
Jewels encrusting fragile skeletons of yesteryear
Pearls rest gently against a dark blanket
Every child looks out in wonder
Each grabs a boot and runs out to play
Soon, firearms are loaded, locked and ready
Then, all warfare is halted
As the knell of a mother's call is heard
Each soldier moans as the mother assembles the troops
She gives each the other boot
Hands out armour to protect her hardened fighters
Then, she gives a big kiss to each saying,
"Bring me back loot from your conquest!"
Each soldier cheers aloud
Then runs out
Wanting to be the first to show off his new prize
Day goes by,
The weary soldiers return
They peel off their armour
Fight against their boots
Drudge into the mess hall
The mother looks upon her weary soldiers
She clicks her tongue
Then lets out a big smile
She wraps her arms around each child
She tells them that she loves their loot
"What loot did we bring you?" they ask
"Rosy cheeks, sparkled eyes, and a need for hot chocolate" she replies
They look on with question in their eyes
She laughs and says
"These are the greatest treasures of a mother."

Scarred
Yet another one that I wrote. This was written when I was feeling slightly depressed. Enjoy!
Renwen
She smiles for the pictures
Laughs at all the jokes
Hides the pain inside
The people then leave
One by one
Wishing her well
She sighs as she walks back in
She fondles the ribbons
Caresses the cards
Her hair is let down
The dress is hung up
The make-up washed off
She opens a drawer
Sits down on her bed
Looks down at her arm
Each year has been marked
Each year has been remembered
Holding the blade
She makes one more mark
The years go by
Each leaving a mark
In remembrance of her life

(tentatively) Hope Is Not Lost
This one is original. I wrote it a couple weeks ago in my prayer journal. The inspiration was my friend's mom going into the hospital.
Renwen
Pain is all you feel
Life seems out to get you
Did God abandon me?
Doesn't He understand my pain?
God knows your pain
He's holding out His arms
Open your mind
Open your soul
To despair is to lose all hope
Do not despair, dear one
Remember this
I will always be holding you
When life seems bleak
When love seems lost
My arms will encapture you
My Love will overwhelm you
Remember, dear one
Hope is never lost

I'm That Girl
OK, here's a poem that I did not write, but that I can relate to quite well.
Renwen
I'm that girl that everyone knows
That people hate
And people fear
I have friends
And then I have enemies
I'm that girl
Who tries so hard
To be everyone's friend
I'm that girl
Who never cheats
And always loves
I'm that girl
Who people pick at
Because it's easy to do
But I'm that girl
Who can surprise you
And amaze you
I got a big heart
But bigger grudges!
I'm that girl who sits back
And let's you yell
And hit and kick
I'm that girl
Who can lose her mind
And can accidentally do something
I'm that girl
Who can't escape
From her own doom
You'll all be sorry
For messing with me!
I'm not trying to ignore you
Just let me be
Because I'm now just plotting your doom
I'm that girl
Who's waiting for her turn
The time is here
You had your fun
Now it's my turn
I'm that girl
Who always gets the revenge
And the blood shed
She needs
I'm just that kind of girl

New poem
Finally, my poem that's been itching to come out has arrived!
Renwen
Up, down, in, out, breathe
Lifeblood ebbs into the earth
Up, down, in, out, breathe

Up, down, in, out, breathe

I have been feeling sick, so here's something for my rabid fans so they stop harping on me. :P I don't particularly like this poem...dunno why, it just doesn't seem to flow right. Tell me what you think.
Renwen
The rustle is soft
Yet it echoes in the darkness
I hold out my hand
Knowing you will save me
Each passsing moment
Each endless day
I know that I can trust you
I know that you will save me
My darkest hour arrives
Again, I hold out my hand
You do not save me
I am falling
Slowly
As if dreaming
I see your face
Your eyes look sad
Then harden like flint
You walk away
Cold and unforgiving
I cry out
Praying to see you turn and rescue me
You laugh
Cold and piercing
I sob
I look into your eyes
Then
As the darkness comes over me
You reach out your hand to save me

Cycle of Destruction
A good, slightly dark poem.
Renwen
Over and over again
The same offense
You have forgiven me once
And forgiven me twice
This cycle keeps going
I don't know how to stop
I wish I had the courage
I wish I had the lack of pride
Again, I offend
Again, I feel your forgiveness
Again and again
This endless cycle of destruction
I slowly fall deeper
The offense takes over me
Once more
I bow down before you
I ask forgiveness
Hoping it will be granted
Hoping to feel it wash over me
Tentatively
I ask
I close my eyes
I feel the guilt come over me
I ask again
And again I close my eyes
I feel your forgiveness wash over me
I am whole again
Until
Once more
The evil power slips over me
And I become trapped in its seductive trance

Here is the poem that was originally gonna be posted tonight. This was inspired by a running story in an SAT writing class.
Renwen
It starts with a white canvas
Black, blue, purple
A streak of red
The painting has now begun
Crimson first slips down the side
Then spreads to encompass all
Slowly the canvas falls to the floor
Oh God
What have I done?
Eyes glazed in the glare of death
Arms outstretched
A whispered plea
Met with another streak
Slowly the canvas relaxes
The artist cleans her brush
Ready for the next canvas to appear

Ok, this one I wrote last night, right before I went to bed. I had been reading a topic on a message board about abortion, and this came to me(literally) like a bolt of lightning. It's not really editted, and it's really short. Hope you enjoy!

Mommy...
Why do you let this hurt me?
Mommy...
Make it stop!
Mommy...
What did I do?
Mommy...
Aren't you supposed to protect me?
Mommy....
Don't you love me?

Hey everyone,
I decided to post one of my lighterish poems, then get into my dark stuff later. Cheers!
Renwen
Streaming gently through the breeze
Wafting like a sweet perfume
Falling slowly through the haze
Holding fast
I see the Light
It disappears
Then shines through again
Streaming gently through the breeze
Wafting like a sweet perfume
Falling slowly through the haze
Others look
But do not see
Still others seek
But do not find
Streaming gently through the breeze
Wafting like a sweet perfume
Falling slowly through the haze
One lost soul
Not looking for the Light
Stumbles upon it in the darkness
Streaming gently through the breeze
Wafting like a sweet perfume
Falling slowly through the haze
Blinded first
Aghast the next
The soul recoils
Tries to flee
Streaming gently through the breeze
Wafting like a sweet perfume
Falling slowly through the haze
Like a moth to the flame
Its human cage draws near
The soul desists
Bringing victory near
Streaming gently through the breeze
Wafting like a sweet perfume
Falling slowly through the haze
Slipping through the fog
A stark appendage flashes
Slowly it grasps the gentle whiteness
The Light brings the soul to light
Streaming gently through the breeze
Wafting like a sweet perfume
Falling slowly through the haze

Hey everyone! I decided to get a blog to have a place to put a bunch of poems. I will post some of my own stuff, along with other poems that some friends have written(so long as I have permission from them). Hopefully, I'll post one poem a week. I will start posting said poems within the coming week. :-)
