Spanning the long distances
Scanning for the lonely sail in the horizon
The gasp is heard as the dot is spotted
She grasps the iron bar in her hands
Will he remember?
Will they be what they used to be?
So many questions to be answered
She turns
Her dress flutters in the wind
Lightly her feet pad down the stairs
Out the door and down the street
She runs toward the dock
She stands at attention
A wisp of a girl
Now a strong woman
Spanning the long distances
Scanning for the lonely village on the horizon
The breathe of an Hallelujah as the dot is spotted
He jumps down to deck
Orders left and right
Will she be the same?
Will she still love as she used to?
So many questions
He orders some more
He goes to his cabin
A small servant in the galley
Now a strong captain
The ship nudges the port
She trembles as the gangway drops
A strong visage is presented before her
He clenches a fist as the gangway drops
The sight of a thousand angels stands before him
Both stare in wonderment
A small sigh is heard as she lays her head on his chest
He stares into the distance and wraps his arms around her
I know it's been forever since I last posted, so I hope this appeases you. I've been feeling the poetic muse visiting me again, so hopefully there will be more to follow.
Cheers!

Too hot
Too cold
Can't breathe
Demons pull down
The angels raise up
Constant fight
Constant motion
When will this stop?
Must I always feel this?
Side to side
Back and forth
Never stopping
Always moving
Again too hot
Again too cold
Can't breathe
Too...hot
Too...cold
Can't.....
Breathe
This....makes no sense to me and I'm the one who wrote it. Argh! Frustrating! Oh wells...leave comments anyway.

The Power of Forgiveness
This really isn't a poem. It's more of a dialogue between God and a person wanting to be forgiven for all the bad things that he has done in his life. I would have put "person" and "God" before each appropriate stanza, but I found that to interrupt the flow of reading. So, I hope you enjoy this one.

My eyes are closed
My hands are tied
Night and day now meld
How long have I been like this?
Why can't I escape?
Who put these bonds on me?
You did this yourself
Every time you refused to help someone
Every time you thought of only personal gain
Is there a way to be released?
Do I still have a chance?
I want to change
Truly I do
There is still time,
Yes there is still a way
Give yourself up
Relinquish all selfish desires
I don't know if I can do that
I want to but do I have the strength to?
You are not your strength
I am your strength
I am what holds you together
I slowly bow my head
My knees touch the ground
I then feel sunlight on my face
My hands are no longer bound
I open my eyes
I see the world around me
Looking up towards the heavens
I give thanks

The Finding of the Lost
This was originally a song, but I edited it into a poem.
Renwen
I've been searching in this forsaken desert
Lookin' for water amongst the sands
I've lost my way
Don't know where to go....
How long must it take?
Am I not alone?
Why am I still searching?
I have been found
Love is waiting for me
I just had to let Him in

The Destruction of Sennacherib
This is a poem that is in my World Literature book. For some reason, it's stuck with me, so here it is.
Renwen
The Destruction of Sennacherib
by George Gordon, Lord Byron
I
The Assyrian came down like the wolf on the fold,
And his cohorts were gleaming in purple and gold;
And the sheen of their spears was like stars on the sea,
When the blue wave rolls nightly on deep Galilee.
II
Like the leaves of the forest when summer is green,
That host with their banners at sunset were seen;
Like the leaves of the forest when autumn hath blown,
That host on the morrow lay withered and strown.
III
For the Angel of Death spread his wings on the blast,
And breathed in the face of the foe as he passed;
And the eyes of the sleepers waxed deadly and chill,
And their hearts but once heaved, and forever grew still!
IV
And there lay the steed with his nostril all wide,
But through it there rolled not the breath of his pride;
And the foam of his gasping lay white on the turf,
And cold as the spray of the rock-beating surf.
V
And there lay the rider distorted and pale,
With the dew on his brow, and the rust on his mail;
And the tents were all silent, the banners alone,
The lances unlifted, the trumpet unblown.
VI
And the widows of Ashur are loud in their wail,
And the idols are broke in the temple of Baal;
And the might of the Gentile, unsmote by the sword,
Hath melted like snow in the glance of the Lord!

A Mother's Greatest Treasure
I really don't think this needs an explanation at all.
Renwen
Diamonds seem to hang from every window
Jewels encrusting fragile skeletons of yesteryear
Pearls rest gently against a dark blanket
Every child looks out in wonder
Each grabs a boot and runs out to play
Soon, firearms are loaded, locked and ready
Then, all warfare is halted
As the knell of a mother's call is heard
Each soldier moans as the mother assembles the troops
She gives each the other boot
Hands out armour to protect her hardened fighters
Then, she gives a big kiss to each saying,
"Bring me back loot from your conquest!"
Each soldier cheers aloud
Then runs out
Wanting to be the first to show off his new prize
Day goes by,
The weary soldiers return
They peel off their armour
Fight against their boots
Drudge into the mess hall
The mother looks upon her weary soldiers
She clicks her tongue
Then lets out a big smile
She wraps her arms around each child
She tells them that she loves their loot
"What loot did we bring you?" they ask
"Rosy cheeks, sparkled eyes, and a need for hot chocolate" she replies
They look on with question in their eyes
She laughs and says
"These are the greatest treasures of a mother."

Scarred
Yet another one that I wrote. This was written when I was feeling slightly depressed. Enjoy!
Renwen
She smiles for the pictures
Laughs at all the jokes
Hides the pain inside
The people then leave
One by one
Wishing her well
She sighs as she walks back in
She fondles the ribbons
Caresses the cards
Her hair is let down
The dress is hung up
The make-up washed off
She opens a drawer
Sits down on her bed
Looks down at her arm
Each year has been marked
Each year has been remembered
Holding the blade
She makes one more mark
The years go by
Each leaving a mark
In remembrance of her life

(tentatively) Hope Is Not Lost
This one is original. I wrote it a couple weeks ago in my prayer journal. The inspiration was my friend's mom going into the hospital.
Renwen
Pain is all you feel
Life seems out to get you
Did God abandon me?
Doesn't He understand my pain?
God knows your pain
He's holding out His arms
Open your mind
Open your soul
To despair is to lose all hope
Do not despair, dear one
Remember this
I will always be holding you
When life seems bleak
When love seems lost
My arms will encapture you
My Love will overwhelm you
Remember, dear one
Hope is never lost

I'm That Girl
OK, here's a poem that I did not write, but that I can relate to quite well.
Renwen
I'm that girl that everyone knows
That people hate
And people fear
I have friends
And then I have enemies
I'm that girl
Who tries so hard
To be everyone's friend
I'm that girl
Who never cheats
And always loves
I'm that girl
Who people pick at
Because it's easy to do
But I'm that girl
Who can surprise you
And amaze you
I got a big heart
But bigger grudges!
I'm that girl who sits back
And let's you yell
And hit and kick
I'm that girl
Who can lose her mind
And can accidentally do something
I'm that girl
Who can't escape
From her own doom
You'll all be sorry
For messing with me!
I'm not trying to ignore you
Just let me be
Because I'm now just plotting your doom
I'm that girl
Who's waiting for her turn
The time is here
You had your fun
Now it's my turn
I'm that girl
Who always gets the revenge
And the blood shed
She needs
I'm just that kind of girl

New poem
Finally, my poem that's been itching to come out has arrived!
Renwen
Up, down, in, out, breathe
Lifeblood ebbs into the earth
Up, down, in, out, breathe

Lifeblood ebbs into the earth
Up, down, in, out, breathe
